The logo was unveiled to a delighted crowd of 275 at the College's Founder's Day, kicking off the Bicentennial Celebration.
A sense of ownership in the logo design process was achieved by including 787 alumni, faculty, and students in survey research.
Because the design utilizes a simple but effective twist on the College's existing logo, it feels simultaneously historic and new.

Working closely with a large steering committee, Visual Voice presented a variety of carefully researched, hand-drawn logo concepts. The final Bicentennial logo was inspired by the College's existing logo, which incorporates the iconic Anderson Hall tower, but used the shapes of the tower's louvered window frames to form two zeros and adds a stylized “2” to the left of the tower.

The tagline to accompany the logo is “Noble, Grand & True,” which comes from the first stanza of the College's 119-year-old alma mater. The phrase is sentimental to those familiar with the College's traditions, and intriguing to those who are not.

WHAT WE DID:

Because the design utilizes a simple but effective twist on the College's existing logo, it is fully compliant with Maryville College's existing branding standards. The Bicentennial logo will appear in every medium from website to commemorative coffee table book to apparel and vehicle graphics.
